Robb Roach and Ty Leger headed to a Rhode Island pier to spearfish for Tautog, aka Blackfish. They found the pilings FULL of fish and both quickly limited out. There were also a couple surprises, including a Pilot Fish and a pair of Trigger Fish…

@EVILLLGAMING Try out the Patience Island docks…
what dock is this?
@jeremyrules2 Unethical?? To me, hooking and potentially killing undersized fish in search of a “keeper” is WAY more “unethical.” I won’t shoot an undersized fish and comply with all fishing regulations. Also, if you think spearfishing is too easy, you’ve never tried it. Try it out and let me know how easy it is…
@Snowwarrior I go with a surfing rash guard because of the barnacles. With a wet suit, you need weight to stay down due to buoyancy of neoprene.
what kind of tops do you guys wear?
@KettlebottomCrew Thanks for the “heads up”… I love seafood and enjoy catching supper. Peace!
@wigwamman1 In Rhode Island, I have not heard of harvesting Sea Urchins, though I have seen them in Charlestown. We also don’t have true Conch– we have two types of Whelk, though, which we often call Conch. I have seen them in areas with a high population of Quohogs, which they feed on…
Thanks for watching!
Places to harvest sea urchins, conch?
nice porno music
@volcomekid002 Try the Patience Island docks. They are awesome!
What dock is this at
@volcomekid002 Yes, it was in RI.
Where was this in rhode island
@NorEastBeast Contact us when you’re planning to be in town. I’ll take any excuse to get out there. Keep in mind Tautog is closed again this year (2010) for the whole month of June but Striper’s open year round…
It’s that time of year again. I’ll be driving dwn from jeresy to meet some of the spearos your way. I was hoping to get in on the tournament this year. Maybe we could dive do a dive?
The seasons and size limits in Rhode Island are the same as recreational fishing. Last year (and this year) the minimum size for Tautog is 16 inches and the limit is 3 fish for most of the year. In addition, the season is closed completely for the month of June. Striped bass has a limit of 2 fish and minimum size of 28 inches…
Check your local regulations. MA doesn’t allow spearfishing for Stripers at all. I don’t think it’s legal in CT either…
What do you mean the season was closed in June. I checked the RI dep website and didn’t see anything about marine spear fishing seasons.
How about CT? Any regulations other than needing the stupid new marine license?
That’s a good fish– congratulations! Just be careful and ALWAYS go with a dive knife. It is too easy to become wrapped up in fishing line or rope on the bottom and a knife could save your life…
Once you’ve gotten good with the Tautog, Striped Bass is the next step. Careful– it’s addicting!
